Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike was first released in May 1999, and is the final game of the series while serving as a sequel to 2nd Impact (the latter, as mentioned above being an update to New Generation).

  • Yun and Yang are now playable as separate characters with their own special attacks and Super Arts.Ī compilation of the first two games was released in 1999 as Street Fighter III: Double Impact for the Sega Dreamcast.
  • Gill himself was made playable for the first time in the home console versions.
  • Urien is Gill's younger brother who shares a similar moveset (though not similar enough to be considered a clone).
  • Hugo, originally planned to debut in the first game, makes his first playable appearance here, traveling with his manager Poison, who appears during his intro and victory animations.
  • His "true" form also appears and is playable in the home console versions.
  • Akuma reprises his role as a secret boss and is playable as well.
  • The chosen player character can also encounter their rival halfway through Arcade Mode if certain requirements are met by the player.Ī few changes were made to the playable roster, carried over from the first game: Gill is fought as either the final boss for a few characters on the playable roster or as the seventh opponent from within Arcade Mode. Bonus Stages also returned in this game.Ģnd Impact's Arcade Mode consists of eight fights, culminating with the eighth and final fight against a specific final boss for the chosen player character. Personal Actions marked the return of taunts and added effects that benefited users, from increased defense to powering up the next attack. Throw Technicals allowed players to counter and escape their opponent's throw attempts. The choice of Super Arts would also determine how many EX Specials could be stored. EX Special attacks made their debut and allowed more powerful special attacks at the cost of some of the Super Art Gauge.
  • Yun/ Yang Lee (Yang serves as a palette swap for Yun in this game)Īn updated version of the previous game, Street Fighter III 2nd Impact - Giant Attack was first released in September of the same year and introduced even more new mechanics.
  • The ten/eleven playable characters are listed as follows: The Arcade Mode of New Generation consists of seven fights, with the first six being made up of random opponents, all leading up to the seventh and final fight against an unplayable computer-controlled only final boss named Gill. The Super Art system was also introduced, with at least 3 Super Arts available to each character, and the choice of Super Art determined the size of the Super Art Gauge and the number of Stocks available. The gameplay is similar to Super Street Fighter II Turbo, but players can now parry most attacks, and also perform dashes, high jumps, and quick stands. Street Fighter III: New Generation was first released in February 1997, introducing several new features to the series. Other problems I'm having are simply getting other games to work (SFIII, SFIII: DI, SVC Chaos, Metal Slug 5, KoF2003) but I guess that has to do w/ the version of games and the out-of-date MAME.Games Street Fighter III: New Generation I'm having better luck with MAME OS X but it is still running extremely slow!! Any help on either issue would be GREATLY appreciated!!! At first I tried using MacMAME but the game would literally move at only a frame every 30 seconds. I installed the CHDs for both in the correct folder. I'm also having this same issue, only much MUCH worse, with the Killer Instinct and Killer Instinct 2 ROMs.

Any ideas and/or tips on how to fix this issue?

Basically when finally getting SFIII: 3rd Strike to run and "installing" the CD, the game runs very slow and choppy. Running MAME OSX 0.135 and I'm on a pretty up-to-date system (3.06GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 8GB of RAM) so I doubt it's a hardware issue on my end. I'm having similar problems with Street Fighter III and some other ROMs also. I am trying to open the game highlighted: Here are some pictures to help explain this more clearly:

I also tried putting them in the roms folder as unzipped files and I still get the error.

I have tryed putting both the files in one zip and was told the same error. So the right files are there yet it still says it cannot find the cap-33s-2.chd file. These are the files I have put in this roms folder: So I put them in library>application support>Mame OSX>ROMS.

zip files of the rom in the roms directory. I have looked for help in other places and it tells me I need to put the. I look there and it tells me this:ĮRROR: required files are missing, the game cannot be run. Here's the problem when I try and open the game (Street Fighter III) it tells me that some of the files were missing and that I should look in the log window.

I have downloaded the program MAME OSX in an effort to try and run some arcade games, a feature that I was always jealous of Windows users. I am working on an IMAC Intel Core duo processor G5.
